Bernardo Gutiérrez (Madrid, 1975) studied journalism at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Since his early years he became a street reporter, publishing in newspapers like El Pais, El Mundo or Diario16. Later on, he participated in the founding of 20 Minutes (free newspaper) in Madrid and Barcelona.
Bernardo covered Brazil for La Vanguardia from 2004 to 2007. For the last ten years, his career / life has been linked to Latin America. His reports from Mexico, Nicaragua, Cuba, Panama, Colombia, Bolivia, Brazil and Argentina (among others) have been published by media as diverse as Playboy, Tiempo, Altaïr, National Geographic Traveler, Primera Línea, GEO, QueLeer, Calle20, Interviú or Muy Interesante. Some of them have been published in Courrier International (Paris), Internazionale (Roma), Expresso (Lisbon) or Clarin (Buenos Aires). Bernardo participated in the collective book Doce viajes literarios (Booket), writing about Hemingway traces in Havana. Since 2007, Bernardo was part of Publico team (Madrid newspaper), as a correspondent in Brazil first, and features editor later.
Bernardo is currently a big cover stories journalist, offering in every text his experience from free newspapers, traditional daily press, weekly and monthly publications as well as his photographic work (published in dozens of publications). He is also doing media consulting, launching newspapers in Mexico, and writing a book about Amazonia for Altaïr Ediciones (Barcelona). |
